IMPLANTS
Smile Street Dentistry offers a wide variety of treatment options and services including implants.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots surgically placed into the jawbone to provide a stable base for supporting artificial teeth, called crowns. The implant is made of a biocompatible material, such as titanium, that fuses with the natural bone over time, creating a strong foundation for the replacement teeth. Dental implants are a popular treatment option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to injury, disease, or decay. They provide a permanent solution that looks and functions like natural teeth and can help preserve the jawbone's integrity and surrounding teeth.
In addition to traditional dental implant treatment, there are also options like All-on-4, where only four implants support an entire arch of teeth. Immediate load implants, where the implant and the tooth are placed on the same day. That is why dental implant treatment is considered a versatile treatment option that can be customized to meet each patient's specific needs.
WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE A DENTAL IMPLANT?
Dental implants have been used for over 30 years and are considered the most advanced and effective way to replace missing teeth. They provide a permanent, stable foundation for artificial teeth and help to maintain the integrity and structure of the teeth, jaw, and facial bones. Dental implants are designed to look and function like natural teeth, so patients can eat, talk, and smile with confidence.
Dental implants are also one of the most common and safe surgeries performed by a trained and licensed dental professional. They mimic the tooth's root in the jawbone and promote natural bone growth, preventing bone loss that occurs when there is no tooth root in a particular area of the mouth.
In addition to their strength, durability, and natural look and feel, dental implants also offer a range of benefits over other tooth replacement options. They are the best copycat on the market, allowing you to enjoy your life worry-free without worrying about the appearance or functionality of your replacement teeth.
TYPES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS:
There are two main types of dental bridges.
ENDOSTEAL IMPLANTS
Endosteal implants are the most commonly used implants. These are small titanium implants shaped like small screws and inserted into the jaw.
SUBPERIOSTEAL IMPLANTS
Instead of inserting a root-like structure into the jawbone, subperiosteal implants are placed under the gum but on or above the jawbone. This type of implant may be an option for a patient that has already lost a significant amount of bone structure and does not want to rebuild or undergo jaw reconstruction before the implant placement.
PREPARING FOR YOUR DENTAL IMPLANT APPOINTMENT.
What to expect during your dental implant appointment
Dental implants are a permanent solution to replace missing teeth. A titanium post is surgically placed in the jawbone during the implant placement appointment. A healing cap is placed on the post, and the gums are stitched. A temporary denture may be used for aesthetics until the next appointment. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to check on the healing process. Once healed, a prosthetic component is attached to the titanium post, and a permanent replacement is a custom-made to fit the mouth. A final appointment is made to place the implant crown in the gap. Proper care and maintenance can ensure a lifetime of use.
